I think with regard to Collingham its a) a day ticket and b) an absolute money spinner for the club, its also hardly policed so everyone can do pretty much as they please unfortunately....

I'm a former member when I was in the military and based down this way, I can't make it but would urge any river lover to do so, I can think of hardly any stretches of water anywhere that look and feel as good as the T&Dfc stretches do. The Loddon and St Pats are exquisite, very good club too...

Thats the problem with the fabled Collingham weir, its easy to smash PB's, get big doubles and multiple catches, ergo it attracts every numpty and as the club can make huge sums they will, sad but true, ultimately changes to bank side behaviour have to come from the clubs and bailiffs excluding...

I'm mainly a braid man and have always found Kryston various braid suitable, I have a couple of others such as Brennan braids but generally use Kryston. With mono for match and pole fishing I swear by Preston Reflo, excellent for pole work, never used it for Barbel fishing though

I think thats probably off set by the fact Braid can be a much finer diameter but far stronger, like for like mono or Fluro diameters its probably 15-20lbs stronger with most brands. You'd therefore get the advantages of little tow or drag on the line and maybe a much lighter lead/feeder, I've...

Also got a Preston Shuttle for Match Fishing on ponds/lakes, think it would be fine on a reasonable bank, if it becomes lumpy or narrow, or the grass/plant life is longer than a couple of feet I think you may struggle.
