Thanks for that Robert. Cheers Bob

    Harrison Chimera 2 - 1.75 New Build.

Thanks Steve - officially retired some time back but occasionally do the odd bit of work. Courier charges have become prohibitive. All the best. Bob

    Harrison Chimera 2 - 1.75 New Build.

Thanks Rich. I've used loads of IPS but for a less bulky feel I prefer the Fuji VSS. There are quite a few seats offered by other manufacturers that might fit the bill. A lot of Fuji components are interchangeable and there are some available as 'extras'. As an example a VSS16/15 used in wind...

    Harrison Chimera 2 - 1.75 New Build.

Treated myself by building a new Harrison Chimera 2 (well I was bored). Thought I'd experiment with the relatively new Fuji TCH reel seat and so fitted one along with a few bits of hardwood. Full decent grade cork handle. Picture speaks better than words. More spec details - Fuji TCH...

    Torrix Tri Tip

Good to see your rod again Dave - remember them well. Still dabble rod making and keeping an eye on new developments. Currently treating myself to one or two Chimera 2 rods with the relatively new Fuji TCH reel seat (TCH = titanium carbon hybrid) which is light, very comfy but expensive. Best...

    Wanted,bfw i flood rod.

Although one of the prototype i-floods was produced with a carbon weave on the butt section, this was dropped in favour of a plain carbon rod to match the bfw i-power. They were issued originally with a tinted gloss charcoal finish. So, not a chimera. Cheers Bob

    Torrix or hi s rods

Yes, 12' Torrix 2lb and 1.75 butts are common and designed like that. Although there are tips that physically fit various other butt sections, they are not intended to be paired. Cheers Bob PS - Best wishes and regards Dave.

    Isotopes

No problem Richard - Actually done that a few times - use the cavity inside the rod just front of the butt cap providing the inside diameter of the blank is sufficient. If not time for an alternative. Bob

    Isotopes

Been doing it for 20+ years on tips that were being built Richard. Offered it as an option with the blobs in supplying both plain and blobbed tip sections where you could swap over or easily replace tips, especially in case of isotope/blob failure (which usually meant return of the rod). Just a...

    Isotopes

Tried and tested, old Daiwa Whisker 11' Kevlar rod with plug on isotope to the tip - the 'isoblob'. Rebuilding the rod at the moment. Cheers Bob

    Another Rod debate 🤣 sorry

Preferred the 2lb Torrix 11' to the 1.75 11' and used the 2lb for the some years on the Bristol Avon and occasional visit to the Kennet. Always felt totally confident with the 2lb. Reckon I built more 2lb than 1.75 when building rods. The butt sections were not common on the 11 footers (unlike...
