Well done all those who put the day together. Thanks for the walk around, I really enjoyed walking along such a lovely stretch of water. Nice to see you again Ian and good to meet you Steve S and Dave W. I have a feeling we will be bumping into each other again soon.
I ordered a small item a few weeks ago at the same time I bought from ebay and amazon.
I got the BFW items a day before the other items. Excellent service indeed!
Thanks for the update David, heard stories of barbel in the ash some years ago and also where it runs near the garden centre in shepperton up until last october it held plenty of chub up and over 5lb. Sadly all gone now :(
Thames water polluted the river Ash last year too, wiped everything out. Used to have brown trout and some big chub. The crane had some very nice fish, lots of chub and good sizes. Both rivers are close to heathrow.

I have had very similar bites fishing a small thames backwater for big chub. One day I had these lightning bites that really whacked the tip round, so I held the rod. With the reflexes of a koala I missed the first two and connected with the third bite. Confident I had...
Hi Andy, I'm no expert but what your doing sounds good to me, I would probably go a bit lighter 12 hook and I've had a bit more success with a flourocarbon hooklength of 6lb (whilst ledgering), its the diameter of 3lb line but a little stiffer. I would definately feed some loose offerings. Maybe...
That days gonna keep me smiling all season I think, might be the only barbel I get into after todays escapade. Back after the chub on my usual Thames back water for now.
I had a couple of anglers fishing opposite me on the fish in recently, and one of them was very near my bait on one of his casts, after he watched me catch my 3rd one he moved ha ha. Ive also been on the kennet opposite wasing, fishing close in under my bank and had a 3oz lead cast right under...
