    Kingfisher Maison

Hi All, Does anyone know if Ade Kiddell’s Kingfisher Maison is still about. I’ve just recently watched Fishing AllStars on telly, an episode with Dean Macey fishing in Fumay. Sitting here with the rain hammering down got me to thinking what I can do post COVID 😩 cheers Pete

Line and Rod rating for casting

So if you use braid mainline you'd use a leader but not a shock leader as such. How long should a leader of this type be? The tapered shock leaders I've seen go from about 12lb to about 40lb. I think the theory behind it is that the 12lb end makes it easier for you to tie to the mainline. Once...

Line and Rod rating for casting

Can anyone enlighten me on what Rod\line combination should be used to chuck a 6oz weight around 50 yrds on the Trent. I'm a bit confused because you hear people mention that they use 12lb lined coupled with a 2.5lb rod to chuck 8-10 oz and that doesn't seem big enough to me. I've found some...

    Trafford Angling

Dave, what one do you have now that you think is better? I was looking for a rod rest system that I can fish 2 rods with on the Wye, one rod maybe far bank, the other mid river.

    Trafford Angling

It looks like these guys have gone out of business, which is a shame so I was wondering if you can get hold the their barbel tripod elsewhere? Does anyone know who made them for Trafford? Pete

    Fox duo lite FX barbel.rods....

the one I've seen advertised is the Fox Duo Lite FX Specimen 12ft 2.75lb but haven't seen any reviews. I've seen that for about £80. The only other one that just about scrapes into my budget is the Drennan Martin Bowler 12 Big Fish rod but its twice the price.

    Fox duo lite FX barbel.rods....

Flood rod for River Wye Hi All, Just wondered what your opinions were on Flood rods. I found myself on the Wye last week with the river well up and pushing through. I reckon I was using about 4oz to just about hold bottom but my 1.75lb rod was struggling a bit. I'm not in the market for a...

Keith Speer on Tight Lines this Friday

I've just watched it and really enjoyed it, all of it, even the the eel bit. I've picked up quite a few tips there Keith and hope to put a few of them into action when I next get to the bank so thanks for that. Also looking forward to the Autumn programme. Regards Pete

    Reuben 9000 scales

I've got a set of these. I think they're excellent. Much smaller and lighter than the Fox digitals and very user friendly.

    Crayfish tactics

I'm back on the Lea Wednesday, giving it another go. What should i do? I'm thinking of using some hardened boilie hookbaits, a bit larger than ones I'd normally use too! Is the general consensus just to put up with the blighters in any given swim, or to try and get a swim where you're not...

    Crayfish tactics

Yes, it's much worse than when I used to fish the Lea a few years back. The reason I asked the question was that on the way back to the car I got chatting with another angler who had just landed one. He said that when he cast in he thought it was wierd that there was no crayfish activity in the...

    Crayfish tactics

Thanks for that.funnily enough I've just got back from the lea and got pestered out of sight by the bloody things. Often reeling in to find no hook bait. I was using 2 10mm boilies. Haven't fished the Lea for about 6 years so was a bit shocked today by the level of crayfish activity. Pete

    Crayfish tactics

Can anyone tell me what I should do when I get crayfish activity in a swim? Should I move swim as having crayfish in a swim means no fish? Or do you just sit it out and hope a fish will muscle it out of the way and take your bait? What do you reckon the best anti crayfish bait is? Bloody...

    lovely day on the wye.

Well done George. lovely fish and picture. Regarding the unhooking mat I'm in full agreement with the sensible approach that most of the members have mentioned. I.E. the fish is clearly on lush grass and is in no danger. An outbreak of sensible comments on BFW!! whatever next? By the way. this...
