    Lost the mojo...

I have just read this thread and was going to post a comment but I feel that Mike has summed up my feelings far better than I would have done , some very wise words there Mike , especially the bit about feeling guilty about not wanting to go :eek:

    John Cook

I bumped into John only once , on the River Lea at Fishers Green . He was very much one of the good guys . Through his posts I felt I knew him a lot better than I did from just that one meeting. I didn't realise he was unwell. Heartfelt condolences to his family. RIP JOHN COOK

    Weir fishing

Hi Noel, It would help to know what sort/size of river/weirpool you are fishing , because they vary hugely. My personal experience on bigger rivers is that the water in a swim directly below the sill will move in many different directions and will often back up ( move back towards the weir...

    Big chub

Mark, I was chub fishing with bread and the first time I saw it I thought 'that's a big chub' the second time I saw it I thought'that is huge, a record by miles' I didn't know whether to laugh or cry when I realised. Interestingly a mate caught it in June 2008 (on bread again) at 14-6-0...

    Walthamstow

No 1 is more prolific for big Bream although No2 holds bigger specimens they are a much harder proposition. No 1 is not hard , the first couple of swims opposite the big island will do you , but you do need to have gear capable of casting to the island. Groundbait feeder and dead red maggots...

    How Far ?

Hi Mark, Nearly all my fishing is done 8 miles from home where ,from the same car park, I can fish for 15lb Barbel, 8lb Chub, 40lb Carp , double figure Tench and Bream. Not to mention 20lb Pike and some big eels if that's your thing. I do too much driving for work to enjoy it going fishing...

To Tell or not to tell

Interesting topic. As usual Mr. Grant has a sensible and very reasoned opinion on the subject. If no-one posted catches the site would probably not exist. Personally I find reports of big fish an inspiration during lean times. I can understand some peoples reluctance to post good captures but...

    Water colour

I cant speak for the WA but in the case of the Thames it IS algae bloom. Interestingly the Thames usually suffers this in mid to end May so just another indication of how far behind we are in weather terms. Richard

The End of an Era in Christchurch

Myself and two friends did on Friday evening:p We were down for a couple of days on Throop and that nice Mr Wilson organised for the pub to do us an evening meal. The pub was very quiet and the food was very cheap , too cheap , however it was actually very good. Thanks Brian. Try doing...
