    New reels and rod tips

Cool cheers man, i didn't want something really big pit carp sized, but i've seen pics of them on the Nash Dwarf rods and they didn't look too big. I'd be using one of them on my Drennan barbel rod and also the Dwarfs too for when i do a little day ticket carping and from what i've seen they...

    New reels and rod tips

I still think i may pick up the Daiwa, just cause i love the look of them. But, 1600 or 2600 size though? How much larger is the 2600 vs baitrunner?

    Aldi bargains

Hi Neil, these ones this time have the shoulder straps ready fitted, they seem great for £16.99 Specs say waterproof to 3000mm, so unless they have a waterproof lining in there, they are not as the surface is only Scotchgard. I got the specs here...

    Aldi bargains

Just tested, typical Scotchgard, water will bead right off untouched, but as soon as you rub your finger over the trousers, the water will start to wet out the fabric, so walking in them while wet with the material rubbing together, or sitting/kneeling, will cause the water to soak through. So...

    Aldi bargains

Deffo buy the next size up. I just grabbed a pair of the trousers and the jacket, both in medium. I thought they would be way too big for me as i'm barely 5' 7" and built like a twig but the trousers fit great! Jacket too although i resemble the Stay Puft Marshmallow man in it.

    New reels and rod tips

Just thought i'd pop back and let you know the combo i went with: Drennan Martin Bowler 1.75 barbel and a Shimano baitrunner 4000 ST I don't know much about the current Baitrunner range or what all the different letters mean, but it seems a nice reel, nice size on the rod, and i could get...

    Dilley resigns

I heard that on the radio, wasn't the guy on holiday? He should have know he wasn't allowed to go anywhere nice during time off work....

    New reels and rod tips

I wouldn't go as far to as to use words like 'level headed' and 'accomplished' .....haha, i've made some rather rushed gear purchases in the past (ain't we all?) and been on the waterside with a rod in my hand since i was 6 years old and even worked in the tackle trade straight from school...

    New reels and rod tips

Yeah i noticed those rods, although i'm only after one and he's too far away from me. I'm also going buy new from my friends shop, supporting your local store and all that. Hi Albert, touch legering with my Shakey Mach 2 XT is not something i could do for long due to it being/feeling quite tip...

    New reels and rod tips

I have my eye on either the Drennan Avon 1.75 or the Martin Bowler 1.75 barbel. I think either would go with my medium feeder well as a more stepped up rod.

    New reels and rod tips

I think I need more than one rod so I can pick the right one I need at the time ;) Man I remember that! And reading a great article in Improve your coarse fishing in the 90's on Len, he was chub and barbel fishing armed with 2-3 of the Drennan rods. Good times! Not sure if I'll regret...

    New reels and rod tips

Maybe i'm thinking of going way too light then? cause my Drennan medium feeder i love for small river chub with hardly/no barbel about, but i will be fishing the W/Avon + Severn this year. On my list is either: Korum 1.75 barbel (single tip version) Drennan 1.75 avon Drennan Martin...

    New reels and rod tips

Haha never too many rods! I currently have the Shakespeare Mach 2 XT barbel, but with the avon section it feels very tip heavy to hold and that tip seem quite beefy too. Only ever used it with the 3oz quiver section. Maybe it's just cheap?, i've no other barbel rod to compare it too though...

    New reels and rod tips

Hi guys, i asked this in another section but it doesn't seem as popular as this part of the forum. Got my eye on the Daiwa Whisker SS2600 reels, anyone use them and how do you rate them?. I'd like to use this size on a barbel rod and the Nash 9ft Dwarf rods. Not too big? And rods. When...

Tiny rivers, will barbel be found?

Well i'll give my local stretch a go once this rain stops and the river calms down a bit. But i've sold my Yamaha R1 and i'm buying another 50cc scooter for now till ive passed my car test. I should be able to get my rod sling on the scooter EASY to get to better parts of the river :D

Tiny rivers, will barbel be found?

I don't think there's any danger of that, it's not much of a stretch of river, usually ankle deep in the summer and if there were any barbel present then they will probs be smaller than the chub! Haha Mark

Tiny rivers, will barbel be found?

I guess I'm gonna have to put some time in in the banks once the river clears up and cross my fingers I actually find some barbel, cause I'll look right daft sat there all day with 1.75lb tc rods if there's nothing in there but pound chub Mark

Tiny rivers, will barbel be found?

My only problem is it's been a year or 18 months since I saw a barbel and it was only in the 1 swim, I've never actually spotted one else where. Mark
