My first EVER barbel - more years ago than I care to remember (twas a young teenager at the time) fell to trotted bread - was after chub but was well chuffed!

Where was this - there are at least 2 otters on the Kennet at present - I known animal which has been sighted regularly in the last 18months in the Hambridge area - I saw it last season and thrice this. Also a large dog otter in the Aldermaston/Brimpton reaches which I've also seen myself this...
I used to fish it at night a LOT. Lived on Beansheaf and would walk across the railway - and usually head right up to the Arrowhead - never personally had a problem in nearly 2 decades of fishing the place. Not night fished it since we moved from Calcot in 2003.....
