Im not suggesting they chase a single maggot around,that would be silly, but two or three barbel will suck up a good few pints of grubs in one sitting no problem. If you took all the man made bait out of the water and only left them natural would they still grow and put on weight ?

Please excuse me, Im new on here, can I ask why Barbel don't put weight on eating maggots? most other species seem to manage it?

I bet a nutritional bait thats easily digestable will work for longer and more regularly ..

I have seen too many good results to condemn HNV theory as nonsense, across most species it seems to have its rewards. As with most things, it needs thinking about, those that use it as a method and score highly seem to do a bit more than buy the latest wonder-bait off the shelf.

Yeah, each to his own and all that .. some groups appear to be in constant turmoil, some people seem to just be in it to disagree ... life's too short, and fishings supposed to be a fun way of getting away from all the stress.

Single Species groups like any other groups are just a sum of the parts, some improve when people join but can easily improve when members leave ... or visa versa ;)
