I would guess that most quality boilies would work without any form of attractor included. At least where artificial flavours are concerned Chris. In fact I think you could repel more than attract in many situations.
Just my opinion. But when I continued on milk proteins (Hi-nu-val) I found that the fishmeal users had better results.
This was around 1990, and fishmeal became the bait to get on. This happened even on the most milk protein orientated water in the land, Darenth Tip Lake.
Quite recently there were a pair of Mark Tunley's rods on eBay. They were marketed as "Black Power" or "Black Edition" or similar. The rods looked absolutely built to perfection and a credit to the builder.
Me, I'm a Kevin Baynes man. He's based not too far from Harrison in Liverpool and is one...
Used to always use them for carp, then Premier Baits and the fishmeal explosion happened circa 1990.
For barbel I like a quality, nutritious fishmeal. Absolutely no flavourings except Squid anchovy sauce which is stocked in most big Tesco shops.
Milks do catch lots of fish absolutely. But...
The one one ebay sold for £100+ and you know what. The seller lived in a village that I drive through every day for work.
Clean it up and sell? Even better use it
The fresh style Polish sausage is just too nice. I have fished it but the chublets just go mad for it and your rod never stops rattling.
PS) I have never had a fish on Pepperami, even during my carp days???
They are good reels, a bit agricultural, lots of play and wobble, but for £120 for 2 reels they are good value. I kind of like the rugged reliability that they offer.
I prefer the Cardinal 55 reels to these but that's just me.
I've got the 4000 baby baitrunner and the SS2600, love them both.
I view them like a car, the SS2600 is like an old 1.9 vw/pug diesel van that is a bit rough and agricultural but is robust and rarely lets you down.
The Shimano is all singing and dancing with nice add ons and is a joy to...
Shaun Harrison from Quest is a very accomplished angler and his bait is used on the quiet by quite a few big fish anglers. His barbel videos on YouTube are great to watch, he has caught stacks of big barbel. Many are Trent fish too.
I know very little about TW's rods to be honest. I have handled a Pulse (don't know which sub type) and it feels great. Very light and feels supercharged, that feeling you get with high end carbon rods.
