I've been using the Gardner subterfuse in 12lbs for many years now comes on a 15 m spools never lets be down very strong and supple.

I've also got the TFG big river rods and also the 1.5 test curve have been using them now for a few seasons on the river and also the 2.0 for Bream and Tence fishing as mentioned good build quality for what they cost.

Keith i've also caught Barbel when Chub fishing on the maggot feeder tactics when the water temp was rising from as low as 40 F. Seem when you get a long cold period Barbel still feed occasionally. Darrel Hughes.

When the river temp falls below 43 f and water is clear I switch over to the float or feeder fishing. During periods of high pressure and low water I would continue fishing this method any increases in temp even was as low as 40f and rising you still have a channce of Barbel on the feeder...
