i bought the 42 inch ngt complete net with rubberised mesh and find it difficult to use/manouver because ot the extra weight compared to normal mesh heads.
i use a medium feeder rod for chub on the swale,but from the odd encounter with a barbel whilst chubbing,i have found them not to be suitable for the task,although fish can be landed,the swim soon empties of chub whilst your undergunned rod is playing out the barbel.i would recommend nothing...
the most important advice on fishing a rising river is safety first.you must have some idea of the area you are fishing,how safe the peg is,how fast the river is rising,what the weather is going to be like during the session,ect,there is no fish worth endangering yourself or others for,regardes...
very sad news,a great loss to our sport,when you bought a magazine on fishing his was the first article you would turn to read and most likely the only one you remember,a true angling great,who inspired many.
