Barbel
Society Conference
Sunday
15th May 2005
Celebrating our
tenth anniversary, this year the Barbel Society is proud to announce
details of it’s 2005 annual Conference at the Hinckley Island
Hotel (Formerly the Hanover international, it’s the same
address to those who have been before and just a name change)
With a selection of top guest speakers to entertain this
coming May 15th, this year’s show is shaping up to
be one of the best we have put on to date.
Our main room seats 350 guests so come and join our top speakers
Matt Hayes, Trefor West, ’Rollin’ Ray Walton and Dave Mason. Hear them
talk about their angling foray’s, experiences and as always you’ll
find some real top tips thrown in for good measure. These informative and
brilliant talks take place over the course of the day in our main room
and are always the highlights of the day.
Talking of highlights, to celebrate our tenth anniversary we have
managed to obtain a fantastic top prize for the always popular, mega
draw, a Chris Lythe Centre Pin Reel. Now if you know your stuff (and
most of you do) you will be aware that these reels are very ‘desirable’ and
this would be the perfect opportunity to jump the 15 month waiting list
and make you way home with one of the best centre pins ever produced. Worth
the admission price alone.
The draw for this reel will follow the Auction and will be the last event
of the day.
You will also be in with a chance to win some of the following great prizes.
Harrison Rod
Guy Rob Rod
Wychwood Float Rod
Okuma Reel
Books and many other great prizes
While were on the subject of great prizes our Golden Draw also provides
us with a great opportunity to celebrate ten years of the Barbel Society.
Courtesy of those nice chaps at Daiwa we have a Barbel Infinity Rod and
TD advantage Reel to give away. That’s three hundred and fifty quid’s
worth of gear.
Wow that’s easily in excess of £1,400.00 of prizes, not
bad eh! We must be bonkers!!!!!!!
In our ever-popular Trade Room you’ll find a great mixture of familiar
and new faces. Stands from the following are already booked and we’re
adding on a weekly basis.
BARBEL FISHING WORLD, TREFOR WEST, BARBEL
SHACK, CHRIS LYTHE, JOHN BAKER, SPECIALIST TACKLE, XSTREAM BAITS,
PEREGRINE RODS, GONE FISHING, ANT BAIT, FREESPIRIT, RINGWOOD REELS,
BOB BUTEUX, STEVE STAYNER, TENCH FISHERS, JOHN MARTIN, BIG RIVER
FISHING RODS, DYNAMITE BAIT.
As always, we’ll stop for a lunch break but the show still goes on
and in the main room you’ll find a 20-minute talk on our thriving
Junior Section followed by a Wallis casting demonstration.
Over the course of the day you’ll be able to renew your Society membership
and stock up on all the Society goodies at Foxy’s merchandise den.

afternoon and evening gathering. The hotel has its own restaurant
and within a short driving distance you can find an assortment of
restaurants…. Indian,
Chinese, and Harvester etc. also a fish restaurant is located almost opposite
the Hotel and is within easy walking distance.
