Rod Hutchinson MX621 Gadget Bag
Introduction
On first viewing the Rod Hutchinson MX621 Gadget Bag my first impression was how much it looked like my old school bag. It has a large main compartment with two configurable separating interior walls, and four exterior pockets. The base and walls of the main compartment are padded and the whole product has an air of quality about it.
Rubber tags on the zips make for quick and easy access to the pockets and main compartment and a padded carry strap makes transporting the bag very comfortable. The strap attaches to the bag with metal clips which look and feel very solid. Additional carry handles are also present with a Velcro band that holds them together.
There's is also a useful elasticated net over the top of the flap of the main compartment that will enable easy storage of a rolled up unhooking mat, weigh sling, light weight jacket or sleeping bag.
The size of the bag is 50 x 25 x 25 cm.

Storage
I have been using the Cotswold Aquarius Multi Roamer Bucket that I reviewed for BFW some time ago and although it has it's shortcomings these have not forced me to change. On receiving the carryall from Rod Hutchinson I was persuaded to make the transition as it looked much bigger and possibly more practical.
Unfortunately none of the exterior pockets on the carryall are big enough to comfortably take substantial tackle items and there's no separate exterior pocket designed to take a Fox/Chub tackle box. The interior is a perfect width to fit one of these boxes. I seem to have ended up with a main compartment full of tackle boxes, bait, food and a flask and four external pockets stuffed with smaller loose items that I don't want messing up the main compartment (swim feeders, PVA, bait dropper, licenses etc).
In Use
Moving around with this bag is a pleasure as the padded strap and walls provide extra comfort. It sits comfortably on the shoulder and feels nicely balanced. Very easy access to all compartments are another positive meaning that when roving, you can quickly organise yourself with the minimum of fuss. I'll update on this later in the coming season when it's had more use.
Conclusion
A good quality bag at great value - my Cotswold Bucket may be resigned to my tench fishing sessions from now on as I'll be using the Rod Hutchinson MX621 Gadget Bag for all of my barbel fishing.
