Lightweight Chair - FAQ?

Paul Murray

Senior Member
Hi - can someone point me in the direction of recent discussions regarding lightweight fishing chairs?

Ta!

Hi Paul,

I'd suggest getting a bucket bag. Trakker do a decent one as do Fox. You can take plenty of gear and bait and sit on the bucket, there's a little cushion sewn into the trakker one and it's more comfortable that you'd imagine.

Only down side is if you do a lot of fishing on very slanted banks, but then I just sit on the floor anyway!

It's a good option if you enjoy roving, but perhaps not as good as a chair if you're baiting and waiting.

I thought of most things when trying to solve the roaming seat thing, I find conventional chairs just too cumbersome and heavy, I have the bait/ seat bucket but as said the sloping bank renders it useless. Lately I have used a small fold up seat taken from a shakespeare ruck seat, stripped away the bag and I tuck the seat into a fold up unhooking mat and the side of the stool doubles as a carry handle, the mat straps wrap around the stool. You can stuff bait boxes etc into the 'pockets' in the folded mat too when on the move.

Sounds a bit daft I know but it really works for me.:)

Fox adjusta level chair gets my vote. Very light and comes with a shoulder strap for carrying. The best I've ever used.

Their OK comfy chairs Mike, I have one but they weigh in at nearly 10lbs, which I find a bit heavy, plus they are cumbersome to carry, the carrying strap seems to make it worse.

Not good for roving IMO.

I have a Prestige lightweight recliner.

Used it for 4 years and counting, its light (ish at 3.6 kilos) reclines to your desired level, has a strap, good solid adjustable feet, is comfortable and is hard wearing (had a horse stamping on it, whilst folded up in its first year of use without causing any damage).

Ultra light roving sessions I use a Gardner's kneel pad to sit on. You'll find these at garden centers ect.

£45.00.... for THAT:eek: They have got to be kidding:rolleyes:
Cheers Stephen:)

I'll see if I can get a better deal, Better than DG's price though:D

Problem is with this chair if I was on flat ground I would never extract myself from it.

It's me birthday to-day, and the family all chipped in to buy me a big rucksack

Do you think they are trying to tell me something?

I have been trying to tell you for years Neil :D:D:D:D

By the way, for all those confused by big letters, RRP means 'recommended retail price'. According to several of the sites selling at less, the Trakker RRP IS £59.99.....

Cheers, Dave
