50 Inch Brollies?

John Cook

Senior Member
Hi All,

Looking for a new 50 inch lightish brolly? Green and must roll up to a smallish diameter....At the moment i am using the 50 inch waterline fiberlight the grey version, not so grey looking now as is covered in tree sap and mouldy green patches where it has been packed away damp yuk....I know there is the Korum one and the Daiwa mission one but i haven't seen either of them....Your thoughts please...

I have a Korum one John and it folds up like a tulip in high winds. Keep thinking of buying a replacement, but I haven't had my money's worth yet. The Nufish ones appeal as they have pegging points and a tilt function, but not seen one in action. They do several versions in their range.

I have the Diawa Mission which is ultra light and slim.
I dont like the centre pole arrangement and the pole extension is not very strong.
That said if lite is the aim its worth it.

I've had the Korum 50 inch for just over a year.Have been quite happy with it.The two pegging points are useful as most times just lay the back edge on the ground.Haven't had a problem with it folding in high winds, yet, and it's been through it's fair share.

Nick, Peter, is this the ordinary Korum 50 inch or the 50 inch lightweigh one?

Thanks Guys.

John,
Mine is the 50 with fibreglass arms,2 pegging points at the back and includes the necessary pegs.I've just weighed it for you and including my own heavy duty solid brolly spike and the pegs it's 7lb 10 oz.
Regards
Pete.

I also have the Daiwa Mission, it is lightweight and rolls up to a small diameter. However the centre pole tilt function is naff and it leaks. I have just given the seams a good coat of thompsons waterseal and that appears to have sorted the leaking. I put up with the other issues as I have yet to find a decent lightweight brolly, I used the grey waterline for a while but that just gives up to easy in windy conditions.

Peter thank you that is very helpful Matey, I also have a heavy duty brolly spike that i shall be transfering to new brolly....

Andy & Fred i will forget the Daiwa Mission i think:(

Hiya Robert hope alls well with you Matey? Yes thats the one that i think that i will be going for.....

Also got one of the ones that Ian mentions and agree with his comments. Nice and light as well.
Cheers
Bob

I really rate my fox 45" specialist, but can only just squeeze it into my little quiver but light and strong, and can even cram bedchair under it just for quick overniters
