Free river fishing!!
Twyford & District Fishing Club’s Open Day
Sat 27 June 2015 - 8.00 am til late

Are you:
• A river fishing enthusiast who would love to fish three great rivers from one car park?
• A keen angler wanting a change from the predictability of carp lakes?
• A lapsed fisher who is tempted to get back into it but doesn’t know how?
If so, why not come along to the Twyford & District Fishing Club Open Day on Saturday 27th June 2015.Our fantastic fisheries on St Patricks Stream, the Loddon and the Thames can all be fished and walked around for free on one day only. Gates open at 8.00am for the early birds and we’ll be around until late afternoon.
Club stalwarts Jim Deasy and Steve Dunbar will be holding a trotting and pole workshop.Renowned local angler Sam Meeuwissen will be holding a barbel fishing workshop. Ian Law, a river carp specialist, will be joining us and expert Phil Wakeford will be on hand to offer advice on pike fishing.
River guides will be available to walk the banks with you and answer any questions.
Just turn up with your tackle, bait, unhooking mat, EA licence and a smile! We will keep you refreshed with free tea, coffee, burgers and bacon butties. There will be a collection box for donations to Fishing for Forces.
If your day encourages you to join up, we will be accepting new members on the day (cash, card and cheque).
Directions - Look for Loddon Drive and the TDFC Open Day signs off the A4 between Charvil and Twyford, near the bridges over the Loddon. The nearest post code to our car park is RG10 9RY

For further information and regular updates see the Twyford& District Fishing Club website Twyford & District Fishing Club
Everyone welcome!

What a great idea/event! Suspect I won't be able to make but best of luck with it Dave, hope you get a good turn out.

Thanks Howard, this is our third year, fingers crossed for a dry day. It's only just down the M4, it's worth the trip just to see Crooky trying to resist the lure of the burgers.

Someone has asked if the venue is suitable for fly fishing. Yes it is, brown trout have been caught on both the Loddon and the Pats. I have caught Sea Trout off the Pats and on on memorable occasion I had three in one session off the Loddon. They all went back.

i would love to come along, ony problem for me is not being able t walk much more than a 100-200 yards or so without gasping for oxygen but still will turn up if the rivers within my walking distance :)

i will do my very best effort to get there and looking forward to it very much,
thanks for the reply joe:)

I'll save you a good swim John, and if I can't then our Chairman will carry you to one.

Bill Howell, Fishing For Forces charity, will be joining us for the day. He will bring various items of clothing etc to sell. Please be generous. We donate all money raised to the charity and we will be having a raffle stand. Any donations or pledges will be gratefully received, please ensure that consumables are in date, any items are serviceable and any pledges are achievable. I think that a day’s fishing with a river guide would even attract a silent auction. Bill also accepts unwanted tackle to sell on, if you have anything you think may be of use then please bring it along.
Have a look at the good work that they do.

Hiya John
Nice to see your posting on this thread. Some of the WBC lads will be there [to make sure Crooky doesn't eat all the burgers]. Be good to see you
Take care
Mike

John,I'll carry your gear if you like.....don't forget to bring some trotting tackle if you fancy a bit of roach fishing,we've got a number of comfortable pegs on the Thames which are producing quality fish to 1lb or so,best on punched bread in the summer or seed baits

I think I'm going to pop along. I can't fish as I'm playing cricket at 1-30 and by coincidence it's against Twyford CC.

hi richardits not so much the carrying as i have bought one of those 3 wheeled trolleys that run on battery, its the actual walking that knackers me, ok for 200 or maybe 300 yds after that i am on the floor blacked out and turning blue:eek:
at least i can get out now and funnily enough have purchased a few different tc trotting rods recently:)

You may already know that the Fishing For Forces charity is coming ( It's one man really, Bill) Please look to see if you have anything to raffle or any tackle you can donate for him to raise funds with. I'm going to donate one of my precious bottles of malt and some multipliers that I don't get on with. I know that it's a big ask but please try to contribute, he does fantastic work for injured servicemen and women. He will also be bringing some tee shirts and baseball caps to sell, please support him if you can.
