travel rod

Hi.
Can anyone recommend a good TRAVEL barbel rod. My mates got a Young's one but he says it's a feels like a sloppy stick with a half decent fish on. Been looking on web & eBay. etc but can't see much on there. Looking for a 1.75 - 2lb t/c.

I hate it when you ask about XXX and someone answers YYY, and I know you said 1.75-2tc BUT I have an 11ft 4-piece 1.5tc Avon rod which is brilliant. Built on a Harrison blank. Have landed double figure barbel no problem.

clickety click 4 piece Avon

Or something like this if your budget doesn't stretch to the Peregrine.

Greys 9ft - 12ft Stalker

Ive got one of these myself, never used it yet, its still in the boot. :D
I know its meant to be for carp, but i'm pretty sure it would handle barbel.

p.s. i think its got a 2lb tc.

I've got a Greys 9-12 ft stalker and it does a job. Not bad at all. Harrison Tryptech is 2 piece, so 4ft sections and a great rod.

I also have a 9ft 3 piece Harrison stalker, which is a bit light, but a lot of fun.

Don't Hardy do a Marksman specialist in 4 piece, 'smuggler rod' or something - but pricey.

The original Hardy Smuggler was a four-piece, the one they do now is a 6-piece. The Harrison Avon is more robust than either of them.

Greys 9-12ft stalkers are rare as rocking horse ...
Me and my mate Jas have two for sale on eBay at the mo as we thought they would sell better as a pair
They are great as you can fish them at 9ft and 12ft

Or this Harrison 4 piece built by Harrisons themselves for Davis Tackle

Has anyone used the John Wilson travel avon rod,and Mark J , are you intending to use the rod abroad or will it be used only over here. There are some great multi piece lure rods that would do an 'abroad job'.

The grays stalker sound just the thing. some one has said the test curve is about 2.5/2.75 is this right or are they softer than that?
I just need it for when i go away with the misses & want to sneak out for a quick hour or so.Probably on avon or the dorset Stour.
