you are right I did say I wasnt too much concerned with the Twaite Shad, in fact I still am unconcerned, but not in a bad way, I am concerned about all fish species, and anyone that knows me will confirm that, my lack of concern for the Shad is in the context of the removal of Powick weir, the Twaite Shad are a protected species, so they have enough people looking after them, but I am concerned about the Barbel in the Teme, in fact very concerned and the lower Severn environment, I think Richard was thinking your were talking about the late afternoon broadcast, look I make no apologies, I am fighting for the barbels survival on the Teme, especially a few miles above the weir, the EA have admitted that the water loss will be profound, 1.7mtrs directly above the weir and .500 mtrs ant Bransford bridge, they also confirmed that the river will take 15 years to get back to any form of natural state, 10 years at least of bank erosion, trees being up rooted, the river being gouged out into a "v", it will dry out in the summer, it will be a raging torrent in the winter, Bransford AC, St Johns AS, Worcester AS, The Barbel Society, Kinver Freeliners and Wards 84 AC all agree with me, we are concerned for the welfare of the coarse fish stocks and most importantly the Barbel, this is Barbel Fishing World, I am a Barbel angler, I am only fighting for the Barbel, because be in no doubt the EA and the Severn Rivers Trust see Barbel as collateral damage, the Shad have spawned successfully for hundreds years, between Powick weir and Teme mouth as they still do, as confirmed by Bournemouth University, they dont need me to fight their corner.........Barbel do!
