Anuvva net wun.

I was intending to possibly buy the Korum 30" folding landing net...once my man get's one in for me to have a gander at  (I have never seen one in the flesh) However, he rang me recently to say that he had received one of the smaller ones in the range, so I popped in quickly today to have a look. I didn't have time to give it a thorough once over, but I did get a glance at the folding mechanism or hinge at the front centre of the net frame....and it didn't look the strongest thing I have ever seen, I must say.

Has anyone who has had one of these nets on the go for any length of time had any problems with it? I must say I was not over enamoured with the plastic spreader block either, but perhaps I am too picky these days? I have the Korum 30" fixed oval with the latex coated net, and love it...except it is not quite deep enough in my view....and it is SO damned big to try to get through even mildly 'jungle' type swims. So, I need to compromise somewhere...but is that particular folding net (highly rated by some) a bad move?

Cheers, Dave.

Dave i bought a 30" one when they first came out, must be about 6 months at a guess, no problems as of yet...

That sounds reasonable then Phil, thanks for that. Mind you, it would have to last longer than that for me to put it to the test...especially if I wanted to test it with an actual fish :D:p

Cheers, Dave.

Dave - if mesh depth is important have a look at the Greys 28" specialist. Not folding, but deeper than your Korum. :)

Cheers lads. I realise having a folding net is kind of asking for trouble...a built in weak point, so to speak  However, I really am fed up with large, barbel sized, solid framed oval nets. Obviously in my carping time, I used large triangular nets with a drawcord connecting the arms...and that is what I used initially for barbel. Sadly, they are not that practical for poking through gaps in the undergrowth...hence the ovals. I was advised that the Korum was as good as it gets in folding ovals....but that hinge does worry me. Perhaps I am being too pessimistic. We shall see.

Cheers, Dave.

recently brought the wychwood fold down in 36 size seems to cope quite well in awkward swims on the colne, so no problems so far:)
Cost around £30

I've got the Wychwood and have had no problems so far,but as this is a drawcord type of net,I wonder how it will cope in seriously flowing water.Tried the Dinsmore, and shattered the spreader block the first time I used it whilst returning a fish from a high bank.

only brought the wychwood for small rivers as the triangular 36 I use (30 plus make) is awkward to transport when I want to fish short sessions
The wychwood folds in half and fits nicely between my seat so carrying is easier, got fed up carting loads of gear between swims so this is part of the trimming down process without compromising too much :)

If you are only catching average size fish from rivers with decent banks the £10 folding telescopic trout type nets from Aldi, Neto etc are perfectly adequate.
I have a couple of them, one which lives in the van with my bug out kit (telescopic rod, bum buddy, small tackle box and net) and the other one used to live at my sister in laws with another short session kit (until she moved she had a little river estuary at the bottom of her garden).
I have had plenty of fish in both of them and no real problems.
