Voted for the 1.75tc but equally like my shimano technium specialist 1.25tc, which coupled with 8lb GT80 landed my p.b barbel of 16lb a few seasons ago.

Kind Regards
Andy

me 2.25 lb tc, best all rounder rod , because its a go anywhere rod and capable of chucking 6oz s + will cover most situations, as long as you have good reels to pair them up with,
i suppose like many other anglers on here, we got all the rods ,in all test curves,
its what you feel comfortable with, and knowing you have plenty power to put on the brakes on ,if you hit a roadtrain, heading towards the motorway , lol

12ft 1.75lb Torrix for me it's a lovely rod, not tried the 11ft though, yet.............!

Is that the T7 stalker? I've got the Hit and Hold, 10ft is perfect for tight swims on the overgrown bits where the big girls live and with the triple leg rings its bomb proof.

It is very similar to the T7 rod, i had it built for me by Dave Lumb a few seasons back and i wish i had him build two!

Hi men,

Hashy origional barbel elite 2lb Tc . Got 3 of them in various states of damage , but the best rod we have used , wished he still made them . Good for nettles , balsham , holding trees back , checking depths , and of corse fishing !.

I still use the Century Pulse 12' 1.5 TC, suits me for all types of situations. Also have a Martin Bowler barbel rod that sometimes get's a run out tench fishing as I never use more than one rod barbel fishing.

My favourite rod is the rod that is best suited for the moment.

Of course their seems to be a raft of opinion that supports the more high end products such as Torrix, however to buck the trend I will say my humble Wychwood Extremis 1.5 12' is when I can my weapon of choice, but then again I have never owned a Torrix either, and if I had I might chose that...

All very subjective really.

12ft 1.75 Torrix, responsive, and can handle almost anything swimming-made very short work of a 17lb river carp, and on the other extreme playing smaller fish is still enjoyable.

Cheers DT

As a lot of you have pointed out the choice of rod is dependent on the venue and the condition of the river – So I do think this is a very strange question to have a poll on.
So I don’t really know what box to tick.
But for the record
On the river Kennet I use a 1lb TC 11ft Hexagraph in normal conditions. And a Drennan Specialist Barbel when its pushing through a bit !
On the River Wye I use a Wychwood Rapier 1.75 lb TC 12ft in normal conditions ,and a Wychwood Maximiser 13ft 2.25lb TC when the river is over the banks

I only float fish so:- None of the above!!!

I use:-

13ft Shimano Diaflash 390H, I have 2 of these.
Probably caught more Barbel from small to proper lumps on this rod than any other.

13ft Normark Avenger.
For when I need a bit of grunt.

12ft 10inch Tench Float Mk III, I have 3 of these,
Again lots of fish on this one.

13ft Preston Innovations Carbonactive float rod (Askari Blank).
Superb bit of kit, only bought mine this year but I will be getting another couple as it is such a super players rod.

13ft Drennan Stick Float Rod.

12ft Drennam Crystalite.
Through action canal rod, a lot of the match boys have been using these for waggler fishing on Carp puddles, although a very light rod, it has a progressive through action, I have had Barbel to over 14lb on this rod, with very little bother.

I also have quite a few other float rods but these are the ones I like using.

daiwa powermesh 1.5lbtc 12ft
RW jw young 1.6lb Tc for when on the move,11ft
daiwa infinity barbel 2.25lb Tc, just ordered, 12ft
Fox Floodwater Duo Barbel 2/3/4lb for when the river is 2ft over the bank, 12ft.
drennan S7 tench and specimen rod for float fishing, 13ft

I still use the Century Pulse 12' 1.5 TC, suits me for all types of situations. Also have a Martin Bowler barbel rod that sometimes get's a run out tench fishing as I never use more than one rod barbel fishing.
is that the new one or the older giant version?

A 12 ft GPE Barbus Limited Edition Indv numbered 1.75 Custom Torrix blank built by Custom Fishing Rods for nearly all my fishing on the bottom from small to Big rivers.

And I think what David said applies perfectly

12ft 1.75 Torrix, responsive, and can handle almost anything swimming-made very short work of a 17lb river carp, and on the other extreme playing smaller fish is still enjoyable.

Except

A 12ft G-TEC Carp bagger for extreme range BIG rivers and piking.

A John Wilson Avon quiver for chub and silvers on bottom.
