New Dove Record

thanks for the replies, just a quick penny's worth on the weight/size of fish,it can be hard to guess fish sizes of a photo, but sometimes they are what they are on the day, there's a photo of this fish in gallery when i caught her in 2009 season, she was 15-02,if i had put 19-00 i dont think it would have been questioned, but i agree generally if the proportions look big it probably is big,(but not allways),
regards jim
and thanks again:)

Propper lump, superb fish, well done that man.

I think this fish nicely illustrates the point several of us have been trying to make in several threads with dubious pictures recently. Many have said how difficult it is to judge a fish by a photo, yet here we are all in agreement again over the size of a fish....no one doubts this and one or two others recently. Anglers DO know when a fish is at least roughly the weight that is being claimed...and when it patently is not!

Cheers, Dave.

I reckon the size of the Dove and Severn whoppers are not questioned largely because the captors are clearly known , respected ,and trusted by their peers . It also helps when both fish are clearly are enormous, presuming of course that the captors are not little leprechaun types :)

Excellent Jim stunning fish.

I think that is a very valid comment Mike.

If someone with a good reputation, together with a known track record, catches it will not be disputed (and neither should it be). If a non 'name' catches a big one, then he must get all his ducks in a row to avoid any internet sniping. I would include myself as needing full supporting evidence, keeping mainly below the radar!

hi guy's,
just for the record, the fish was 18-06 not the reported 18-10 in one of the mags,
regards jim:eek:
