new free spirit rods

Does anyone know if there is a rod in their barbel range that equates to 1.25lb TC or there abouts? I have the 2 piece 13ft SU float rod and it's exceptionally good.

I have got one of the small water rods joe but I find it way to soft if you hook into a barbel even small ones the rod just doubles over a little to much would be ideal if only fishing for perch and chub. Howard dave lumb stocks a great little harrison chimera rod 11ft 1lb 4oz tc check it out on his website mate

It's funny how we all see things differently! However clearly your view is based on actually having fished with one, whilst mine was based on the customary waggle and having the lad in Stapeley Angling hold the tip whilst I lifted the rod up.

Funnily enough Dave Lumb showed me the Chimera Avon last Weds and I was seriously impressed with the it and plan to have a couple made up when funds permit. It seems perfect for the roach and perch fishing I do. Not sure I'd be using it for barbel though!

Free Spirit are bringing out a new HI-S Barbel rod that Shaun Harrison is currently doing the leg work on. This is addition to the rods mentioned at the top of this thread.

I never liked the Hi-S specialist SU - didn't feel right. The Big River one was better. The Barbel Seekers are great though on the S range blank.

I also have one of those small water Hi S rods, and agree, no where near enough power for a barbell, but great for small stuff.

Which new rod Stephen? The ones mentioned at the start of the thread, or other ones referred to throughout the thread?

Theres a new one out called the spirit barbel rod. £134.99 for the 1.75tc and £139.99 for the 2.2tc. Walkers of trowel have them in stock but no picturs on there web site.

If I could work out how to upload pics I would.............
If you want to pm me your email address Stephen then I will email you some pics.
Cheers

Just corrected my listing on the for sale section the rod I'm selling is the new freespirit spirit big river barbel rod. Got it confused with the advanced as these are the newer version

The rod you have for sale is the Free spirit "Spirit Barbel 12' 2.25lb"
The "Big River Barbel" is part of the S range of rods. There is also a "Big Water" rod that belongs to the HI S range.
Hope this save's anymore confusion.

Jason

There are pics of the new rods on the FS facebook page...

The S class Big River barbell rod is a different tool altogether, and i'd quite like one, one day...
