Rolling the meat

Perhaps could use the slotted tungsten beads used in fly fishing. Depending on the size/gauge of hook used it may or may not fit. For example, here’s a 4 mm bead on a size 8 Drennan barbel hook. Probably not weighty enough for meat (but works a treat on squirmy wormy flies).

Spilt Shot on a hair of your weight choice and pull the lot into the meat.

Keeps bait on better, doesn’t effect the hooks gape size like rapping does and it’s a much better way to adjust and control exactly how much weight you need for it to go down and give the presentation you want in certain swims.

There’s also the minimum lead weight allowance to consider when we are rapping our hooks in lead wire
If you lose one of them lead rapped hooks, that’s not very good Id say.
 
Drilled bullets from anchor tackle, or Olivettes, available from drennan secured between float rubbers, works a treat. In time you learn how bigger weight for a stretch of water...
