Specimen and Specialist Groups

TFW, a mine of information that I only stumbled into as it ground to a halt. Wit, good natured p1$$ taking, loads of ******** on about ooks and the odd bit about fishing - thoroughly recommended. But as they say, all good things etc etc

Ooks and landing nets pole discussions a plenty and not a single mention of wooden rods or centre pins , what chair or what's the best boilie or even much about actual fishing. RIP TFW.

David, the reason for that mate is that Tench anglers on the whole are forward thinking types and have embraced progress with open arms rather than the more backward thinking Barbus hunter :) Cane rods and all that old paraphernalia always remind me of those old Cadburys smash adverts with the martians chuckling about our outdated ways.

Anyway, what was that Woman called from the Quatar calling thread ? i often think of her :D

I couldn't resist picking up your designer bait on this one Lushy .As you will remember as you hark back to days gone by , the humans in the Smash advert did '' peel them [ the potatoes ] with their metal knives '' . Now metal knives are pretty cutting edge in my book :D As for the cane rod , it's just like vintage cars for me , they have more character , need a bit more TLC ,but can be a real pleasure to use . I suggest you now seek out some Jack Hargreaves videos on U tube , and remind yourself when fishing was a lot more civilised and simpler , me I have a cork handle to shape on an old cane Avon :D

Mike, vintage cars are the perfect anology, they usually handle appallingly, bits fall off them and they are usually driven by quaint old men in funny hats ! plenty of parallels there bud :)

I think the closest a few on TFW got to classic car was Austin Allegro or Morris Marina!

Oi, what's wrong with the Austin All-Aggro?
Over the years my mate had three of them. They all felt that they had road wheels the same as the steering wheel.......SQUARE. :D

Whatever happened to Oggy's 'Bedchair Study Group'. That's what I want to know?

if I remember correctly, the term used for the square steering wheel on the All-Aggro was "quartic". No wonder our car industry went down the Swanee:D

Chris and Simon mention of 'Oggy' and the Railway takes me back to Johnson's many years ago.Glad to see you reprobates are still fishing.

Hi Fred, yes still out there mate, catching the odd un ;) They were the best of times those, i called in for a look a couple of years back and went for a pint in the Brick for old times sake, its all very different now but it was till nice to be back there.
Hope you are keeping well and still rolling those special little balls :)

Mr Wilton, Sir. Hell the hell are you? Rather expected to see you on Facebook along with Rob Monday, but it seems you don't go on there!
