I was referring to the hook I found already in the fish and had to take out as well as my own, the piece of braid it was on was 6" long and had a frayed end.
The fish had managed to do some damage to the MONO section of my rig, that's why I keep the braid on my combi rigs as short as possible too. The Allbright is a better knot for achieving that in my opinion.
Been lot's of these braid , fluro , mono debates over the years . My view , the compromises of braid , principally it's poor abrasion resistance and uncertain breaking strain far outweigh it's perceived advantages . With fluro there are always similar concerns to braid particularly on the breaking strain issue . Mono has to be the best all round option
