Just a post to say that based on my experience so far, I would whole heartedly not recommend these.

About 10 days worth of fishing and the finish is disappearing to show the metal beneath. It looks like the line will just be running across a bit of stainless steel with a few more trips.

I'm awaiting a reply from the retailer but surely this can't be normal?

Has anyone else had experience of these, positive or negative?

I haven't used braid and I've only caught a dozen or so fish on them.

It's a bit of an unnerving situation for 3 rods that cost a large amount of money.

Never understood these rings. Still yet to hear anyone tell me one thing about them that would make me think they aren't a complete waste of time.

I personally wouldn't buy a rod without a ceramic insert.

If they are not custom made I'd take them back whilst you still can and get some rods with proper rings.

I didn’t know anything about them (apart from convincing sales blurb) and have never previously had anything except good quality fujis. I’ve got a 16 year old rod where the Fuji inserts are as good as new, although the metal ring and whipping glue is aging. There’s a bit of me that just can’t believe they’d put something so poor on such an expensive rod.

They are off the shelf Harrison’s, through one of the big tackle shops.

Will see what they say and update here although predominantly thought I’d make the post though to save someone else the potential hassle.
 
Interesting and not good.
I bought a pair of accurix on here, custom made and all that jazz. I noticed last time out one of the Vortex guides had bent quite severely. Considering it hasn’t seen a lot of use and is transported in a very durable padded sleeve , I wasn’t impressed.
It bent back ok but I’ll have to keep an eye on them.
 
I have a 190ft nash scope carp rod, I like it, but, it has reverse minima guides and a fuji tip guide. I've had the rod several years. I haven't really used the rod a lot, anyhow, last year I noticed that the finnish on the what i'm assuming is a metal insert on the guides has been worn off. I can even feel grooves if I push my finger nail round it.
I used it yesterday whilst catching carp and it is still useable, but wether it stays as it is or worsens only time and use will tell.
It wasn't a cheap'o rod, and it has pi$$ed me of to be honest!

Blimey Ian, it must take you at least 2 hours to thread the line through the eyes of a 190ft rod. 🤪

The use this kind of ring to reduce the weight of the rod, but like many of you guys, I don’t like and trust these rings, the worst I’ve seen is the line cut a small groove on the ring.
 
I wouldn’t have guides like that thrown at me. I’ve always avoided them like the plague. Specialists rods it’s got to be kigan or Fuji and on float rods ideally Fuji but Seymo ain’t a bad guide to be fair. None of this light weight insert less rubbish.
@Christian Tyroll they should definitely take them back and refund. There’s no way any amount of abuse could cause a guide to wear like that so it’s clearly a naff product.
 
Here's what I've got so far;

'All of the black "centreless" guides, like Vortex, Ti Forged, Minima's, TDG's etc will lose the coating on the contact point with the line, the centres of the ring are a coated metal lining as opposed to the silicon insert on a traditional ring, obviously the rings like yours offer a big weight advantage and bigger internal diameter over traditional rings which is what is popular today.
Being honest im surprised that it has worn if the rods havent been used many times and have been used with mono, id have expected it to take a little longer.

The coating coming off doesnt detract from the rings performance in any way but i appreciate it would be nice if it stayed black, its one of those trade offs between the performance benefits of the centreless rings over the silicon lined rings.'

So in effect, I am being told not to worry about it as the black coating is pretty much cosmetic. Hard to stomach.

Pity they didn't tell us that before we bought the rods! 😡
 
I've been assured that the black coating really is just cosmetic and people are still using them for some serious fishing without the coating.

The outcome is I'm paying for some new eyes and they are going to get them fitted for me.

Perhaps by early 30s I'm already a bygone but I will be happy to see normal eyes on the rods.
 
Roger of peregrine, informed me that fuji are no longer supplying black framed fuji k series rings that I wanted on a couple of new builds he's doing for me, don't know if that's anything to do with the original topic above?
Components are getting to be a nightmare in acquiring according to Roger...

Yes it was a couple of years ago now.
The black coating on the Fuji stuff was not meant to be that great for staying on so the discontinued all the black guides and the black hoods on the reel seats.
It’s a bronze brown colour or silver now iirc
